Dear largest city in Canada that most Americans think is the capital:
I will be visiting your fair city for a couple days to play two shows.
The first one (Friday October 23) is part of the X-Avant New Music festival, put together by the wonderful folks at the Music Gallery. I'll be performing Nicole Lizée's piece "This Will Not Be Televised" with a small ensemble, a piece that saw its world premiere in Winnipeg two years ago with yours truly and members of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
X-Avant New Music Festival
Friday 23 October at 8:00pm
at Music Gallery. 197 John St (north of Queen W), Toronto
The second one (Saturday October 24) at Revival is the Toronto edition of DJ Spinna and Bobbito's legendary "Wonder-full" parties that absolutely murder NYC every time. I'll be DJing downstairs with homies Noel Dix, Felix & Gani, and John Kong. Insert clever line referencing Stevie Wonder song title here. ("You'll be Overjoyed!" or "It'll be Hotter than July!")
Wonder-full!
Featuring DJ Spinna and Bobbito
Saturday 24 October at 10:30
at Revival. 783 College St (corner Shaw), Toronto
The last time I DJ'd a party in Toronto, it was off the hook until my car got towed and the A/C broke down during the drive home during a 110-degree heatwave. When we got back to Montreal, I wrote a song called "4 inches per minute on the DVP". That '97 Outback Limited is sadly long gone and I'm flying up this time, but I look forward to seeing what songs come out of this weekend. I'm also looking forward to late-night crispy squid on Spadina and picking up new Toronto slang still star.
